Biography

Alvise Vendramin is an italian artist, born in Trieste. After his retirement, as a self-educated painter, he devoted himself to the art of painting and wood craft, giving birth to pieces of work which exalt his peculiar creative ideas. He prefers acrylic paint, trying also different and unusual material, as nail polish, and he mostly makes use of recovered material, particularly pieces of thrown away wood.

Anything but unconventional and fecund, this A.Vendramin painting. At very first sight, some of his pieces can resume early XXth Century avant-garde artists, nevertheless they are unique and very personal ones. Different way of composition and several shapes, from the typical picture to a long board. Very interesting are the little “Totem”, which remind the egyptian stelae, mindful of past stories, they call us to encode their hidden message. Looking at the whole work such as sudden, could give the impression to enter a kind of chaos lost in huge colors, like a foolish and unreal composition. But the enigma reveals itself very soon, inside the rythm of the creation, showing the artistic perception and declaring its being, inside the synthesis, the simplification of form, at the crossing path between abstractism and surrealism.

By this means we are able to come inside the painting of this artist and discover that this chaos is very human, made by so many frames of life hidden and lost among lines and curves. Yet this is not a sort of primordial chaos, it comes from the human common life, where the great show of the Nature must leave the scene to less poetic items. In such a peculiar field, the colors melt in the shapes: sinuous curves meet with circles, symbolic signs, objects, strange figures, doors passed through by imaginary streets and open windows, welcoming whatever arrive.

There is a sort of brand, recurring in all the works, and this is a straight line crossing the picture, that forces the observer to fix his attention on the unusual details, with the deep support of the colors. There is no place to nuanced, shaded, colors, which are pure and bright, to communicate strong and vivid emotions and providing an artistic tension carrying us “out of the real space and time”, then resting just in the soft curves by whom all the creation is given prominence. Moreover, everybody is free to develop their own feelings and to identify familiar objects and situations.

Alvise, with his “pupoli” (sort of pointless sketch, as he names his works), brings us in a sort of trip around and inside ourselves, meeting very closely a different “own world”, the one hidden inside a secret box, felt by the heart but hard to see for real. A kind of secret mirror, where we can look how our daily life is so often too much confused and very little “human”. So it can be said that Alvise suggests his vision of the life like it is, throwing on his pictures the images coming from his unconscious. A kind of painting that moves emotions is the painting which can get close to the Art and this one from Alvise is a very good artistic proposal, which for sure is going through very interesting paths.
