Welcome to the Art Page of artist Maria Mitchell, this accomplished artist was born in Belfast but now lives in Co. Down, Northern Ireland.
The style and content of Maria Mitchell art varies greatly but her bold use of colour, flowers and strong design make it instantly recognisable. Maria’s first collections were based on both Irish landscapes and cityscapes, but over time Maria was inspired by the grace and elegance of the female form and moved onto female figurative painting.
Maria Mitchell paintings depict specific and often recognisable Irish locations but their particular quality lies in the creation of atmosphere. Her paintings capture the serene to the vibrant and from a traditional feel to the ultra contemporary.
As part of Maria's painting journey, she has experienced the joy of photography. This journey has allowed her to capture the varied emotional and physical moods of her every changing surroundings; from nature to architectural buildings to street life it all enhances her everyday life.
Maria has also taken part in a number of solo and group exhibitions and her work can also be found in many private collections throughout Ireland and international and in public and corporate collections. Maria's work has been hired for film/TV - psychological crime thriller "The Fall" made and set in Northern Ireland.
