Biography

Using personal and traditional symbolism and motifs I produce images that are an allegorical expression of my memories and feelings. My art is an expression of my obsession with the reality beyond reality, the human in relation to the divinity of the soul.
To explore this artistic obsession, I construct intricate details of female figures, in particular Aphrodite, the symbol of beauty and love, and convey the colours in layers of meanings.
The messages behind, encoded in details within my characters, are distinctive and intensely personal. The intensity of Aphrodite’s emotions and thought come in contradiction with her static materialization; is how I feel in relationship with the world.
The focus of my art is therefore powerfully conveyed in a fusion of spiritual and sexual, ascetic and fleshly, earthly and heavenly, temptation and sacrifice, and nothing is irrelevant. Crying in silence, prayer dancing, soundless music, locked secrets and multitude of identities are challenging illustrations of my inner struggle.
Individuality of thought and freedom of spirit is what makes my art stand out. It doesn’t come easy, it is painful, and it drains my body of power but, the excitement of spirit and the interaction with divinity is able to overtake the misery.
Thus, as long as my art will stimulate debate and make people open their eyes and soul to the reality beyond reality in search for personal and deep meanings, my goal as an artist is achieved.
