Biography

My main interest is focused in processes whose outcome is failure. I believe failure stands as an allegory of the entire artistic process which aims at a perfection that can be tentatively searched for but never totally achieved. As an artist I feel the urge to continuously push the limits of my practice by performing particular actions that may seem useless, if not utterly absurd. I think the connection between failure and the absurd is the underlying principle of our life as finite beings living in a time and space that are infinite. Focusing on failure and failing processes, my aim is to draw attention to the new possibilities produced by every failure. On this ground, I repeat my actions in a continuous and obsessive mode. From a formal point of view I try to produce different blocks of signification that in their turn produce different possible narratives. I delegate to the viewer the chance to give a definitive meaning to my work. In my recent works I extended my research to different learning processes connected to my procedural and performative activity. My purpose is to use the artistic act as an experimental and cognitive exploration of my authorial-self, demonstrating my inability to use any media or artistic means whatsoever. I attempt to establish a relationship between learning and failure through an ironical reflection on the artist’s role in society. I like to think at myself as the only actor, script writer and cutting editor of a movie without director.
