"Ideal Beauty" or "Beauty as Ideal"? In any case, "idea" might be the best word to describe the motive and the purpose of Diego Chiarlo, definitely a common denominator of his pictures.
Piedmontese photographer (Acqui Terme, 1978), he got the passion for images from his father and, after the degree in photography and fashion, has taken up a personal and versatile research. Free lance since 2004, he's working in several fields: from color to b/w, from portraits to fashion and still life, until conceptual shots, always with the aim to create – of course – ideas.
The realization of pictures in his mind comes first of the shooting phase. Diego focuses on creating a complete image, in which sobriety, composition and personality find the right balance. Then the decision to use a few elements, soft blur effect, bright colors and light spot directly on the subject. The result is a clearly legible photograph: clean and not ordinary. Fashion, beauty, food and interior photography become means to represent an abstraction, but this fact does not hinder the subject/object into the image, but rather expresses its full potential.
So the portrait becomes essential, the food is broken up and composed in different way, the jewel is caught as transparent, the water and the tree make texture without beginning or end, model, dress and makeup become part of a unique project of a search. The endless research of beauty.
