Biography
My name is Carlos Martínez. I studied History of Art in the University of Valencia between 2001 and 2006, and after I had obtained the degree, I achieved the qualification in Film Direction, Photography and Digital Edition at SDAC (Scuola D’arte Cinematografico) school cinema in Genova, Italy, between 2006 and 2008. After this formation period I began to make my own audiovisual works, taking part at several International Festivals and obtaining different awards.
Despite my qualification in different audiovisual fields, I tend to focus on film directing tasks. My History of Art background makes that contemporary painting becomes the main source of inspiration in most of my audiovisual works, trying to connect both languages, the film direction and the pictorial field, giving to my productions a sense of space, composition, contrast, colour or depth close to different movements of this artistic expression.
It is the aesthetic value of my works what I most like to develop, an aesthetic point of view linked to contemporary pictorial trends. I try to define a characteristical mark in all my films, in either fiction, documentary or more experimental video creation.
