Biography

PAOLO MADDALONI WAS BORN IN 1983 IN CASERTA, WHERE HE LIVED AND STUDIED UNTIL HE WAS EIGHTEEN. HE THEN MOVED TO NAPLES, WHERE HE STUDIED AT ACCADEMIA DI BELLE ARTI. HE GRADUATED IN 2006 WITH A STUDY-DISSERTATION ON SCULPTURE. THE CITY OF NAPLES AND THE ACCADEMIA WERE EXTREMELY RELEVANT FOR HIS PERSONAL AND ARTISTIC GROWTH. FROM THE CITY HE CATCHES AND INTERNALIZES THE CONTRADICTIONS AND THE DISCOMFORT, DEVELOPING HIS OWN UNPOLITICALLY CORRECT ARTISTIC LANGUAGE, ALWAYS PERMEATED WITH A CINICAL, EXORCISING IRONY. AT ACCADEMIA, HE LEARNS THE IMPORTANCE OF NEATNESS AND FORMAL RIGORS, ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF HIS POETIC LANGUAGE. THROUGH HIS WORK HE THEN INVESTIGATES REALITY WITH ITS UNPLEASANT AND DISTURBING ELEMENTS, PROVOKING THE VIEWER OF HIS INSTALLATIONS AND FORCING HIM TO CRITICAL THINKING. HIS RESEARCH AND ARTISTIC PRODUCTION GOES FROM CONCEPTUAL WORKS TO MORE FIGURATIVE ARTIFACTS, FOR BOTH HE SPENDS HIS COMMITMENT AND TRUE PASSION, CONSIDERING THEM COMPLEMENTARY. HE TAKES PART TO DIFFERENT EXPOSITIONS IN CAMPANIA AND OTHER REGIONS OF ITALY, ALWAYS LEADING FURTHER HIS ARTISTIC RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH. HE’S ACTUALLY WORKING AS CLAY SCULPUTURE TEACHER AT LICEO ARTISTICO DI VICENZA, CITY WHERE HE LIVES.
