Biography
I paint vivid, whimsical landscapes in pastel.
Born in Missouri, I've traveled to most states in the U.S. and painted along the way. I love being in nature and try to visit state parks along my travel routes. Most compositions of my work are pulled from places I have visited, a few are fully imagined. I began this series in the winter when the thermometer read -5 and I longed for weekends at the lake and driving through the wilderness. The scenes are a collage of real places remembered with whimsy and brilliant color. Driving through the winding hills on your way to new adventure, you come across an opening where you can see for miles during a crisp autumn day.
I'm professionally trained and have my BFA with a major in painting, minor in printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute. I have a background in non profit arts administration and also graphic design and production in the print industry.
