Biography

These are photographs of very small paintings made with fluid acrylic paint, of what happens to this paint when it is playfully manipulated. I stumbled upon this world accidentally. I was painting on a large scale when I noticed spectacular drops falling from my tools, the underside of my knives morphing into exotic landscapes. I took a few photos, loaded them onto my computer and was mesmerized. I became fascinated with the behavior of color, distortions of scale and perspective - the physics of paint.
These photographs are taken with a macro lens on a digital camera. There is precious little manipulation of the image in Photoshop, the majority of the processing involves cropping and cleaning of dust particles. Sometimes an annoying splat is removed. I aim for the true color of the wet paint. These are NOT computer generated images.
