Biography

Ximo is a pop artist who makes little things. In 1998 she started painting a series of unquiet women with big heads and little bodies. They are humble and aware of their state of outsiders, and painted with acrylic colours on cardboard, a material that underlines their little value, but they always try to express their feelings. In 2000 the first "portaits of moments" appear: they are paintings on wood, slightly bigger, more realistic and still not too respectful of prospective and proportions; what matters is the story emerging out of a single frame, a fantasized moment. As a parallel work, since 1998 Ximo makes postcards (and sometimes also stamps), little collages made with local materials (when she's travelling) and virtually any kind of materials (when she's home).
In recent years, through a primitive use os photoshop, the Dolly Rulez saga began: she is a little doll that leans on pre-existing images and then is photographed, always releasing a comment, a statement, sometimes a question. All the work of Ximo turns around the condition of a contemporary woman, independent, self-sufficient and ironic, though not always happy. Among her more recent works are the syncretic sculptures, minuscule assembings of various materials (mineral, vegetal, animal) and the talismans by @the charming charm maker, objects of self-development (every talisman is unique and made especially for a person) aimed to help people to focus on their ojectives and desires. At the moment Ximo is working on a series of photographic images who put together figures belonging to different religions and cultures of the world.
