Biography



A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. In 1986 she received her diploma with honours at Professor Zbigniew Karpiński’s atelier. In 1987 and 1988 Urszula Wilk was a grantee of the Minister of Culture and Art. In 1989 she was awarded with the 1st Prize at the Eugeniusz Geppert Post-contest Painting Ehxibition. And in 1995 she received a grant from The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, New York, USA. Her achievement include more than 30 solo exhibitions and involvement in several dozens of group exhibitions in Poland and worldwide, among others: “Upside-down” - BWA Gallery in Wroclaw; EL Gallery- Elbląg; Dominique Lang Gallery – Luxemburg; Galerie 40 – Wiesbaden; Baltic Gallery of Art – Ustka; Galerie Drei Eichen – Emern; Genius Loci – The Museum of Architecture in Wroclaw; 60 years of Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw – the Museum of Architecture in Wroclaw. In 1990’s she took part in artistic projects “Tower” and “Parachutes” held in the urban space of Wroclaw. Since 2009 she has worked on a pictorial series entitled “My Private Area of Protected Landscape”. In 2012 Urszula was at an artist residency, followed by an exhibition, in Shangyuan Art Museum in China. The exhibition was held under the Honorary Auspices of the Mayor of Wroclaw and was financially supported by Adam Mickiewicz Institute – Polish Culture Around the World.
2013 – exhibition at the City Museum of Wroclaw, organised in frames of a grant from the budget of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. In 2014 the 1st Prize – the best exhibition in 2013 in Wroclaw- ZPAP
