Biography

Sonia Lenzi graduated in Philosophy at the University of Bologna. Then she graduated first at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and later on in Law at the University of Bologna. After having taken part to the exhibition at Palazzo Re Enzo in Bologna "Survey 1987 - the Art of Youth", she moved for a period in Australia. Then she continued her artistic practice investigating themes related to identity and memory of people and places, using photography to create social relationships through signs, forms and gestures. She lives and works in Bologna.
The last solo exhibitions were "Alcatraz prison and island" in Porretta Terme, in 2007 - exhibition site specific for the former district prison of Porretta Terme, now BAM, Library, Archives and Museum, "Places of the beat generation" in Bologna, Trame bookshop, in 2010, "Absences" in Novafeltria, site-specific wxhibition in the deconsecrated church of Santa Marina, in 2011, "Women strong and free always " Porretta Terme, in 2013, "Objective basket" at the Palazzo Comunale di Bologna, Room Long Sleeve, in 2013.
The latest group exhibitions were "The goal of women" in Bologna, Baraccano, in 2008, "The Charterhouse seen as Dickens would have seen it", Bologna, Palazzo Comunale, Sala d'Ercole, in 2013, exhibition of "Art " Prize finalists, Palazzo della Permanente in Milan, in 2013, Photomonth East London Festival, London, in 2014.
In 2013 she published the artist's limited edition book "Last Portrait's portraits" with the Danilo Montanari Editore.
