LETTER OF PURPOSE
For me Art is a shared living experience by the Artist’s way of seeing things with. Artist has his/her story to make and each story has its own style to express something significant to the society. That is why art has such a mysterious way to tell stories of our own from different corner; spiritually as well as culturally. Art can also depict personal feelings like love, anger, happiness, grave, hope, hopelessness etc… that we all shear when we live in this world. Human society continuously develops through constant interaction and communication among its members (people). Indeed, humans have different ways, means, media, and form through which they can express themselves and extend their message to other people in the society. Art is an example of this medium of communication, which involves skill and creative imagination in a musical, literary, visual, or performance context". It is more than a medium of communication, since it goes beyond the traditional forms of verbal communication. it is also one way of seeing and interpreting reality of the creator or artist, where people can get a glimpse of who and what the artist trying to communicate (relationship between the self and society).
As a child hood, I have been engaged and practiced in various creative school projects. As a result, it does not take me a while to deeply influenced by visual art because Ethiopia is a country with full of mosaic culture, legends, and tradition from north to south-from east to west. No wonder that a child who grow in Ethiopia can’t escape from this astonishing tradition and deep artistic heritage. I remember the first time my father took me to his friend who was a priest in Ethiopian Orthodox Christian Church, I was child back then but the memory is still clear in my mind as if it was just yesterday. The priest took me inside and showed me one of the oldest Ethiopian icon paintings, very graphical and decorative art works. Some of the art works were as old as 200 years old. From the moment I saw these paintings, I was attracted by it and developed deep interest for fine art focusing on Ethiopian graphical, ornamental &icon painting.
I was focused on my education and broadened my understanding for Art. Up on my high school graduation, I have scored great point and joined the Addis Ababa University School of fine Art &Design. As I have focused my time and dedication in my under graduate study, I was introduced to the western art ,basic culture of drawing , Graphic Design composition ,painting and printmaking. I had the chance to work with professional artists, teachers, display national and local exhibitions, participate in various art workshops, and won many international art
When I look back and see what I have accomplished with my young age, I am glad that I haven’t west, even one minute, of my time other than working hard. I praise God that he gave me such strength and good family who always stood by me
I would very much appreciate if you giving me a chance to become participant in celeste, admin , It will be the best place to devote my talent and creativity to the highest-level of quality, discipline and intellectual let my dream bloom Just like a flower field thriving at a right time and place
Finally, as an artist memories are a waves that connect the past to the present. For some memories are a gift because they want to be remembered again and again in order to complete themselves but for others it is a dreadful experience since it really heart deeply inside
But when a memory is so pure so true and so significant that you want to capture it and the secret of art can hold these moments in our life. Someday I see myself being one of the few artists or designers who capture a moment which lives in everyone’s heart forever.
