Biography
Erica Deeman’s work visualizes themes of identity, gender and race. Through portraiture she engages her audience to look and look again against a visual tide of expectation.
Erica is dual heritage, Jamaican and English. She was raised in Nottingham, England and holds a degree in Public Relations from Leeds Metropolitan University. Moving to the States in 2010, she completed a BFA in Photography at the Academy of Art in San Francisco where she continues to work and reside.
Her work is held in the permanent collection at Pier 24 Photography and will be shown in May 2016 as part of the new, upcoming show.
