Biography
Marguerite Kahrl, born in 1966 in Beverly, Massachusetts, has lived and worked in Italy since 2002. She studied at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and received an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her Noble Savages sculptures have been exhibited in the United States at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tucson, Ariz., the Esso Gallery in New York, the Santa Fe Art Institute in Santa Fe, N.M., Empire Fine Art in Miami, and the Von Lintel Gallery in New York; and in Italy at the Alberto Peola Artecontemporanea Gallery and the Artissima art fair in Turin, the Asilo Bianco Association in Ameno, the Seghetti Panichi Cultural Association in Castel di Lama, and the Cultural Service Division of the Municipality of Turin. Her sculptures were also commissioned by the Ossola Museums Association for a permanent outdoor installation in Crevoladossola, Italy, as part of the Geo Chavez art itinerary. Kahrl’s other projects, too, have been widely exhibited, including at the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation and the Parco Arte Vivente, in Turin, and the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, in Venice. Her work was selected for a purchase prize by the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Turin. Kahrl has participated in a number of artistic collaborations and been awarded residencies in both the United States and Europe. She was the recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant in support of a residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute and a Sue and John Diekman Fellowship for the Djerassi Resident Artists Program in California.
