Biography

Moreno Preto was born in Vicenza on January 24, 1974. He decided to cultivate his passion for painting and photography since he was a child. Although his love for art was rooted deep within him, his family wanted him to study engineering, hence he decided to study technology at Istituto Tecnico Industriale Statale A. Rossi in Vicenza and later at Istituto Italiano per la Saldatura in Genova.
Even though he specialised as an Industrial Engineer and as a Welding Specialist, he never abandoned his real passion and was able to improve his painting skills, in particular the abstract technique. In 2010 the artist’s creative spirit realized itself through a technical book called “Difetti di saldatura”, later published in English as “Welding defects”, that was widely acclaimed amongst the Italian and international technical community. After these publications, in 2015 Preto felt the time had come for him to dedicate himself fully to painting and has since then painted in his study in Altavilla Vicentina.
Preto sees himself as a gestural and minimalist artist influenced by abstract expressionism, therefore his polychromy conveys a strong visual impact. The artist expresses his commitment to his artistic vocation through instinctual and intense paintings, executed using layering techniques and linear shapes.
Preto's gestures are irrational only from a technical point of view for his works of art present themselves as entities that come to life unexpectedly, and later evolve in an idea, a concept, a feeling.
