Biography
Claud Hesse lives and works between Itlay and Berlin.
Daughter of a surgeon, Claud Hesse was influenced by her parents’ profound passion for philosophy. From an early age they instilled in her an interest in scientific and classical culture but right from the beginning it was art that played a fundamental role in her life.
Her schooling at the Liceo Classico, visits to important art exhibitions and many trips abroad (United States of America, China, Russia, Great Britain, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Greece, etc.) were fundamental to her formation as an artist, to her “forma mentis” and also to her perception of the world and life itself.
After taking her school leaving certificate, she enrolled at university to study Biotechnology where she explored genetics and physical science.
Following this she studied painting at the Fine Arts Academy where she graduated with top marks. She then did a Master and graduated with summa cum laude. Her graduation thesis was entitled “ONE art – music – quantum physics”. In writing this thesis she enjoyed the collaboration of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics in Frascati and composer-musician Giovanni Allevi.
She currently lives and works between Italy and Berlin.
Her fondness for scientific culture, particularly DNA and quantum physics, is latent in her as an artist so that we continually find references to them in her work melded with subtle philosophic concepts and deep inner reflections.
