Biography
Luca De Gaetani was born in Lucca the 27th of 1979. He is known under the pseudonym of Degal
After his Master Degree in Material Sciensce in 2004, he obtained his Phd in Chemical Physics at Pisa University. He published more than 20 articles on international journals. During this period he had the way to learn relationships between structure and properties and how materials behave. He will use this knowledge in his future works. In this period the artist also met the poetry and start composing spending his efforts to master language. He published more than six poetry book widely appreciated. Later he wrote a novel which reached the final step in a international competition.
In 2013 he joins “Gruppo Disordine” (Disorder Group) founded by A. Luminosi and U. Cadabria. They go through the matter analysis and achieve new solutions in building an artistic language able to reproduce disorder and human fluxes.
In 2014 he gets his Master Degree in Economy and then faces with the study of matter and space which he reinvents starting from their immaterial texture and projecting them in concrete tridimensional works.
Charmed by cristals and glasses essence, he investigates undefined tresholds dividing caos from order: so material, tangible works come up with an intrinsic obsessive structure. In these works the matter expresses the radical relationship with reality. Instead, the artis vision has the task of understanding the depth of the entropic disorder in which human beings move and are absorbed.
He discovered the fascinating power of the use of glucose: born as sugar, it unveals that matter and world can be rebuild through this not-eternal substance. Unlike "normal" colors, it embodies life and energy regeneration: light and force therefore shine from his works.
