Biography
I am captivated by the life of objects and places. Her work, which is realised in live and visual art, occupies a place of imagination that explores shifts between site, object and the relationships between things. In my live or installation work, I am interested in the dependency and independence of work to the environment in which it is encountered; where site is not just a stage but an active performer.
In examining the nature of things; I select objects which are then taken out of service and transformed and repositioned; for me, they represent poignant examples of the ephemerality of existence and how the act of being can change over time. Drawings mesh incongruous combinations to create new experiences and identities.
My recent works include Out of Water, a performance for London 2012, PSi 19 in San Francisco, USA and Edinburgh Festival, My Home is my Museum, a performance and public collection of objects for Curating Cambridge and Breath Control for leCollectifBLAST in Angers, France and Cambridge Science Festival, Cambridge Junction and Latitude Festival. I have shown work in solo and group shows at firstsite, Arnolfini, Outpost, Towner, Smiths Row and Wysing Arts Centre. In September 2013, I curated the inaugural PILOT Festival in coastal Brightlingsea, Essex and am currently Fine Art Programme Leader for post- and undergraduate level for The Open College of the Arts. I am a member of the artist collective Live Art Collective East (LACE), and The Misreading Group.
