Biography
Rossella Piccinno earned a degree in Documentary and Experimental Cinematography from the
Department of Cinema at the University of Bologna (Italy) and she earned a Masters in Cinema and Digital Arts from Le Fresnoy, National Studio of Contemporary Arts, in France where she currently lives and works.
Her approach, matured in documentary cinema, remains linked to field research and expands into spatial art, declining the documentary form to other forms involving video, photography, sound installation, experimental fiction and documentary film.
Her practice explores human ecologies, questions about individual and collective memory, cultural identities and the relationships between human presence and landscape.
Her works often present a particular, nostalgic, relationship to the past and are sometimes characterized by a melancholic vein that seeks the human presence between nature and inanimate things.
