The event's host is Valentina Campagni
Valentina Campagni's first solo exhibition in Germany shows a special selection of her latest and early works.
The Italian artist creates paintings that tell us about a large variety of psychological issues. Large canvases show scene-like images that inspire the viewer to continue the characters story in his imagination. Feminine, thoughtful, introverted characters create a suggestive effect. Mysterious shadows intensify this effect, they allow the viewer to learn more about the characters than their facial expressions reveal.
The works show an emotional dream-world created by an impressive combination of form and colour.
"Blighted Ovum", the title of the exhibition is also the title of Valentina Campagni's latest works and conceptually summarizes her current and previous periods of creativity.
“Blighted ovum” refers to everything that people would rather not talk about: out of fear, because of their weaknesses, just to forget . All the things that could have happened, but on which we perform self-abortion: on love, idea, intuition... life. Something that is inside the human potential but that is reabsorbed before it actually transpires. The correction of what we could feel as an mistake.There is something fascinating and terrifying in this kind of humans' disease: the difficulty to understand our life creates many interesting stories. The fear to exist. The hope of being someone else. Well, I tell the stories of floating people discovering their inner shadow s because I'm able to see them. It's easy for me. Our shadows can tell us something... maybe the truth, if we have the courage to really open our eyes and see. Otherwise life will be only a deception.
