The Poetry of Form, featuring works by : Frances Lambe, Sue Morris, Joanne Proctor, Anna Marie Savage.
The Poetry of Form, via the work of four female artists currently working on the island of Ireland, explores the relationships between materials and their surfaces; and extends the practice of drawing both on and beyond the paper source.
Inspired by the book, ‘The Poetry of Form’ on the work of artist Richard Tuttle, this collaborative show reflects on how Tuttle’s work straddles the barriers between genres by combining elements of drawing, painting and sculpture. The works presented here bring together a diverse range of practices that consider the fundamentals of form, structure, mass, scale and space. Through the material properties of traditional and non-traditional media, they question the generic boundaries that can sometimes define and limit contemporary art practice.
Collectively, the four artists’ explore notions of identity, memory and sense of place. Citing geological, geographical, botanical and biological references they respond to the gallery space, to each other and to the world they inhabit.
