The series "Goethe in ROM" deals with the photographic examination of Goethe's Italian journey to Rome. The German artist and scholar stayed from 1786 to 1788 twice in Rome. The combination of literature and language analog SW Photography is a deliberate discussion of the current situation in Rome with Goethe quotes from the 18th Century.

Photo 1: "The best moment of man is man."

Photo 2: "Always hold firmly to the present. Each state, so every moment is of infinite value, because it is the representative of a whole eternity. "

Photo 3: "Grey, dear friend, is all theory, and green the golden tree of life."

The photographic source material is the medium format. The traditional black and white lab selected medium format images in conjunction with paper be increased in direct contact method. This produces partial blurring or sharpening. The focus range can be altered by targeted air. The design process in the laboratory changed the overall aesthetics and the importance of focus within the photographs.

After the enlargement process the prints are digitized. Another image processing does not occur.

But it is not the technique that these images gives the character of uniqueness, but rather the technique is committed to serving the artistic and aesthetic ideas.
