Biography

Jong-Kwang Hyun (b.1971, South Korea), a SCAD Honors Grad Scholarship graduate student, is receiving an M.F.A. in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in December 2016. He had received an M.F.A. from The Graduate School of Fine Arts, Hongik University in 1999 and a B.F.A. from The College of Fine Arts, Hongik University. He has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions internationally including galleries and museums in Seoul, Pusan, Gwangju, Beijing, Ningbo, Shanghai, Tokyo, Fukuoka, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sydney, Sarajevo. He won an award of Excellent Prize in Grand Art Exhibition of Korea in 2002 and an award of Special Prize in DANYA International Art Festival in 2007. He has taught students drawing and painting in colleges, universities, institutions of fine arts, Seoul Arts High School, and even lifelong education centers in Korea for ten years before coming to the Unites States. Currently, Hyun is researching on iconic images and grids in contemporary art eventually for being granted a Ph.D. degree in Hongik University where he was studying in Ph.D. course work from 2003 to 2006.
