Biography

I have always ‘made’ art in one form or another. The making of art rests deep inside me and feels primal. It's something I can’t not do and is always in my conscious thought. Art making/Painting comes, flows out, and defines, but mostly it’s always with me -- important to me. My inspiration in the art-making process comes from my daily meditations and life experience. I frequently find myself in a meditative state while painting….in a void so to speak, yet actively engage in the painting process—making art decisions without awareness of my physical reality, of the canvas I am working on. I’ll be working on one painting and ‘seeing’ (I think of it as conjuring up) my next painting. For me, it’s about Consciousness. It's about being connected with the Spiritual and letting that come through and spill out onto the canvas.

Painting is my spiritual connection with our physical Universe, to the heart and soul of all that exists, was, and will be. It's about something that is much bigger than anything I can communicate verbally—I just know it’s very Spiritual. Sometimes paintings seem to fall out of the end of my brush without my engagement in conscious, cognitive, good art decision-making thought. Sometimes I work all day and step back looking at the painting I'm making and wonder where It came from and when IT came to be....... mostly knowing that I have no idea. It just is.

I have been making art since childhood. I have experienced the great joy of being in several three-person shows (albeit during my younger years). And, I feel most fortunate that I’ve had the wonderful experience of being accepted into more than just a few juried shows in the Bay Area. I love painting--it is my lover. When I paint, my heart is open and I feel full and grateful for my existence. When I paint there is no past, present, future Time.
