Biography

MLB is a hybrid space, an unusual place to meet contemporary art curated by Maria Livia Brunelli, critic of art, and Fabrizio Casetti, businessman. It is located in a 15th century building in the heart of Ferrara, a charming town in Northern Italy near Bologna. The gallery is in the very centre of the town and nearby two Italian Renaissance landmarks– the Castello Estense and the Palazzo dei Diamanti.
MLB exhibitions are organized parallel to the exhibitions held in the Palazzo dei Diamanti, a renowned site for art exhibitions (just a few hundred meters from the gallery) in order to inspire and attract visitors.
The events are focused on leading artists and curators from Italy and abroad, with the aim to create a link among Italian and international venues.
The program is possible as a result of a flexible board of international curators invited to evaluate site-specific projects. MLB home gallery is thus a space where visitors can approach art in an informal atmosphere, making acquaintance with the artists suggested by professionals, where artists can easily contact prospective collectors, and where curators can experiment with untraditional ways of exhibiting work.
