NEW YORK STATE OF MIND - aluminium version No 8/24
TECHNIQUE:
Constructions of different levels built on plates of wood, covered with thin sheets of metal (mostly copper & aluminum), textured, patinated and enameled. This unique technique, shows metal in a different and unusual way, was developed by the Chilean artist BENEDICTUS and is used only by himself and SHOHAM, his only student so far.
The items in this technique are made in 24 versions, each is signed, dated and numbered.
NEW YORK STATE OF MIND :
This wall sculpture express very clearly and with concrete the artistic state of mind I had when for the first time met with NYC some 35 years ago.
The twins towers were of great inspiration and impression.
I consider this work as the one, which express on the best way all the parameters characterizing my work : Metal Movement and Music.
Since 9.11.2001 I cannot stop thinking of the wicked eyes, which looked the same humane way I looked at NY, but saw no music, no movement, just wickedness.
On last September the 10th year of 9 11 will be announced, and this art work (as well as the other two interpretations "Manhattan" and "Metropolitan" ) gets additional memorial value.
