STAMPAXI +
Stampaxi + is based on the principle that architects, engineers and planners cannot decide a priori how the inhabitants of a district have to move or meet, but that residents can help professionals understand how they would like to enjoy the space they have. STAMPAXI + starts with the project STAMPAXI WALL (January-June 2010) with the aim to give an urban and social role to the void of Fara street.
STAMPAXI+ is structured in three phases: 1)analysis and mapping, (January and March 2012); 2)
distribution and publication of the first phase’s results through an art installation (May 2012)and 3) design and construction of a socially sustainable activity for the local residents (September 2012).
The first phase aims to define the new social composition of the neighborhood through the identification of “Urban Actors” and their codes of behaviour, “Urban Codes”. The focus of the project is to understand how these “Urban Actors” inhabit the neighbourhood and how much physical space helps to build web-based community experiences.
The second phase consists of a big poster of photos of the urban actors in order to strengthen the identity and sense of community and to break down the wall of mistrust due to a lack of knowledge of new residents.
The third phase will be an example of sustainable participatory planning, applicable also to other neighborhoods or cities where communication became the input to create change and build a new community network.
Each element, each new interconnection that emerges, is useful to reconstruct the spatial needs of the community/district in order to design interventions that truly meet the needs of those who inhabit these spaces. http://www.sardarch.it/stampaxi+/
