Homage to Ramirez

This painting, batik technique on silk, was inspired by the outsider artist Martin Ramirez who was active in California in the 1940's to the 1960's. Batik on silk: Molten wax and dyes are applied with brushes alternately in this updated version of batik, a resist process. The silk is stretched. At the end of the process the wax is removed.
