Evocation

Acrylic and rice paper collage on canvas. Water is fluid and pliant, yet gravity and its ceaseless flux form mountains and rocks. Shan-shui, or literally “mountain and water,” is often a key element in traditional Chinese ink painting. This work reveals my Chinese sensibilities in my approach to contemporary Western abstraction.
