The world hides the end because the violence and catastrophe which feed it remain hidden, unseen.
The task of art, on the other hand, is reclaiming the end. Art, in the words of P. Klee, does not repeat the visible but makes visible. Art makes the contradictions and violence in the world visible, and in this way reverses the course of catastrophe.
Art thus reappropriates the end because it is itself a catastrophe (kata-strophe = upheaval), but non-violent. The heart, the primary symbol of humanity, elucidates a cure that is irreducible to the violence of the world.
