“Lady with a Rose” is a new portrait artwork from my collection titled Reflection. The portraits from this collection are very much focused on capturing the light and energy of the subject in moment of natural reflection.
In this painting I chose the rose to represent beauty and vulnerability, sweetness and strength. The softness of the petals reflect the passion in her long flowing hair, falling and creating warmth around her naked bare body. She sits bare and the yellow background warms her wishes, and there is a gentle longing, wish, as she takes in the warmth. She is pure and open in her hopes for this moment.
