retrieved_family I_the new australians

This project is part of an ongoing series I have been involved with for many years. The concept of the lost and forgotten image, buried under life pressing ever forward. Here it is retrieved and recycled. Lost and found. Images of places visited, paths walked, snapshots of moments long forgotten are brought out of dusty drawers.

These are my parents, Peter and Haricklia, standing in Regent Street, their first home in Australia following migration from Greece. Exactly one year later, my older sister was born, seen in the pram. My Aunt Sophie stands behind them. We all have family photographs we stare at, hoping a magic spell will reveal some truth of the past.
