Estudio sobre Judith y su doncella con cabeza de Holofernes

Through the Artemisias project, May San Alberto investigates on the existing convergences between the biographies of Artemisia Gentileschi (1593 -1653) and the women from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The compositions of this baroque painter have been reinterpreted as reflexive metaphors that speak about the strength of these women to overcome setbacks and avoid discouragement. This photographic work highlights the women’s nature, becoming workaday heroines and survivors in harsh and poor environments all around the world.
