¿Crecerán las flores?

This monumental installation refers to the ‘Masacre de Tlatelolco’, a series of demonstrations and repressive actions occurred in Mexico City in 1968. The installations is composed of 68 cylindrical elements alluding this emblematic date. 64 are chromatic variations in red, symbolizing dead bodies and killing actions; the other 4 have been colored in green, recalling the lights used by police airplanes to attack the people. White elements refer to the left hands symbolizing the sign to fight. Military hats recall the military strategy. In the wall we can see a wound, referring the pain suffered during and after the attack. The tile of the piece appears under questions marks, ¿Crecerán las flores?, alluding to the amalgamation of doubt and hope.
