thought X layer
In Buddhism, the “lotus (lotus flower)” that emerges from the muddy waters to produce a pure and beautiful flower symbolizes the wisdom and compassion of Buddha, and like the words of the Chinese proverb -“the lotus springs from the mud yet remains unstained” - the lotus is a flower of purification that grows untainted in the mud.
The mud is then interpreted as representing the profane world, and the “lotus (lotus flower)” that spreads its blooms and leaves with vitality not despite of but because of the mud, acts as a symbol of the determination and toughness of life (and living beings).
When paintings and video images are combined to create layers, new visual perceptions, illusions, and sensibilities (feelings) are born, and these in turn become layers that overlap with the layers of thought that emanate from the viewer, thereby adding a further dimension.
