DICHOTOMY
The edges of this piece simulate a chess board representing the complexity of the world. The hand that emerges from the sand and holds the hourglass simbolizes the body that limits our soul and ties us to a sterile and confusing reality represented by the desert. In the hourglass the sand is replaced by blood showing that with every moment our lives vanish in time.

In the center, two faces emerge from the desert as a mirage looking at opposite sides. The one beholding the hourglass simbolizes that part of us obsessed with our mortality and that our existence is temporary; while the other one represents the strength that drives us to live without caring if our acts will be trascendental viewed from eternity.The mouth is about to gulp the brain fiercely because it wants to give an end to the queries of the meaning of our lives, as they only bring up new queries.

This piece shows that we cannot get rid of neither our rationality nor our passion and they are shown as two opposite ways that are presented to us. On one side, there is the crazyness simbolized by the eye that contemplates desperately the nonsense of reality and how absurd it is; while the second represents the willing to live drawn in a femenine silhouette that insists on chasing the golden bird, which represents happyness, she is trying to get it; even though, she is self aware that she will never achieve it, as her hands vanish each time she gets close to it.
