Open shutter. localised light.

I use a single shot with an open shutter and localise the light source to illuminate my subject. Often using my self or those around me as a way of investigating any hidden emotion as I "wash" the dark environment with light. The digital SLR camera is an essential part to this process as each previous photo is a map or guide for the next. There is no photoshoping or post production involved, apart from the occasional cropping.
