Mind Glitch
Mortality is not approached in this work as death, but as the act of living with death in mind. Despite being the subject of many cultural works, death can’t be documented. This film approaches the subject by following the personal experience of the artist as he mourns his uncle through a visual intervention of home movies shot by his mother many years before.
The grain of the videotape image, combined with some glitch art-inspired freeze frames, some reverse motion and some filters that ‘white out’ the appearance of the figures (the uncle and some children) suggests also the fragility of memory: memories are imprecise and fade. The intimate content and precise visual language lends to the film a powerful sense of loss and longing.
