Pixelized turtle

Pixelized turtle

In our digital era, it is a challenge to decompose the nature forms to a digital format.
That decomposition is already made when we pixelize or vectorize images.
But should all images have a patronized transformation to our digital screens?
We are living moments when our digital screen by themselves are being questioned – the flatness, the physical rigid supports, the energy dependency, ...
Nature inspiration is having more and importance and not only the inspiration in nature forms but on the way they work. This is giving new answers and, along with them, new approaches to design.
Biomimicry is the discipline that digs further this subject and has been changing pre-conceived mind sets of what technology should be and changing the it’s route.
My work has been trough out time progressing along with nature inspiration and lately finding dots in nature to connect it with our era’s way of seeing things.
This specific work intends to transmit the idea of turtle form decomposition for digital purpose.
The plane and simple explanation would be that the more realystic way to decompose a turtle shape would be using hexagon forms instead of square pixels as it happens in all existing forms. This is the way that most respects his organic form every shape of a tortoiseshell is inserted in hexagonal shapes, even if it is a pentagon, a square or even a triangle.
This work makes a reflection about the importance of nature’s observation in order to adapt ourselves to it’s reality and not the other way around.
