Line Wall Bridge
Once i feel the metal sheet is ready to be painted or drawn on i will then follow by using brown or white pencils to roughly sketch on the drawings or at least the more important parts. Then it's when I would start with oils giving washes to the background and marking the darkest areas of the general landscape. A lot of creating and destructing will take place as working with oils on metal, you really have to build layers in order to get the best out of the Metal and the oils.
The reason why i decided to paint 'Line Wall Bridge' is because it is a bridge that i cross daily to go to work and since a young boy i have always been fascinated with the view and contrast of the metal and industrial qualities with the Rock of Gibraltar in the background. Also producing a painting based on a metal structure and painted on a metal surface gives it a relationship between subject matter and the actual physical artwork.
