Betrayal & Denial (triptych)

Betrayal & Denial (triptych)

This triptych consists out of three self-portraits and can be regarded as psychological and spiritual reflections of the self.

These drawings explore inherent ironic paradoxes found within human nature and the concept of personal transformation through the moving from one “condition” to another “condition”. Furthermore, notions related to fragility and instability of human nature are explored.

Concluding, these drawings could be regarded as reflections of the self through association with the character of the other. The use of drawing trace and the material itself are explored in an experimental and symbolic manner as a carrier of meaning whereby it functions as a visual language, at the bottom half of these drawings becoming reminiscent of imagnined “sound waves” .
