Halal ("Permissible")
Halal is any object or action permissible to use or engage in according to Islamic law. The terms covers not only food and drinks but also all matters of daily life.
Generally in Islam, every object and action is considered permissible unless there is a prohibition of it in the Islamic scriptures. Clarification is given below in detail as to what is considered to be a permissible object or action in Islam, along with the exceptions.
By standing in front of my audience, and announcing that my skin is 'Halal' I don't intend to rebel against the laws, but rather the traditions that were created in the recent 40 years that caused my country Yemen to fall into depth of strict traditions and disadvantages. The more traditional and strict my society became, the less educated and modernized it tuned out to be. This sad scenario continues to worsen as new generations are being born into total darkness and restrictions - drifting far away from understanding the essence of freedom of being who you are in regards to faith, sexuality, gender and everything else that matters.
