The Gun Triptych

The Gun Triptych

The Gun Triptych is a tale of mans constant love/hate relationship with violence and the weapons that go along with it. Three separate images explore a dark aspect of the human condition and behaviour. It touches on how mans quest for knowledge and power often leads him to self destruction as well as the destruction of others. Whether the characters are read as simple/advanced, archaic/modern, or past/future they are all valid interpretations of a behaviour that been prevalent since mans first step. Every organised society has rules or philosophical ideals against violence, yet which of them hasn't developed weaponry for just such a purpose?
In terms of the Taboo theme: In mankind's struggle to "better" himself he has made violence a taboo. Yet, in mans struggle to "better" his situation, violence always seems like an obvious shortcut. This hypocritical cycle seems like it will ultimately bring about mans self destruction.
