In an act once simple and effortless, but now unnatural, wearing, and elusive, what was previously a deep marker of identity has become a mere extension – an echo of former abilities and latent, but unshakeable, instincts. The performance is, at its core, an act of puppetry on an alternative stage, in which actual and suggested body and place are mirrored, paralleled, and manipulated towards a cohesive union. Any connection, however, is temporary and often an illusion – a hopeful tale never embodied in full.
