“David” is an astonishing Renaissance sculpture carved from a single piece of marble, created between 1501 and 1504 by Michelangelo.
The artist’s attention was immediately drawn to David’s intense look and in particular on the left eye that stares at the viewer while emerging from a crown of recurring vanitas symbols, flowers and butterflies.
