The Dog Face Boys
This sculptural installation entitled 'The Dog Face Boys' depicts the frozen narrative of these shell-like creatures, who imprint their faces onto the wallpaper of a fabricated wall. In essence these creatures are like mobile printing presses in which they stamp their own etched copperplate faces onto whatever they make contact with. The title 'Dog Face Boys' references the expression of the same wording, this is usually implied derogatorily or in jest to someones appearance or demeanor as being either ridiculous or out of sorts. The title also refers to the fact that the creatures have hybridized dog and human faces.
The actions of these so called dog boys brings into question how much they are actually motivated by free will. They appear to have an instinctive function but in that function do they really have a function, or are they on perpetual auto-pilot. As beings in physical existence they are either being dominated by the actions that they carry out without consciousness, or they are in full possession of their dominance by perpetuating their own image wherever they go.
