“Bacterial Portrait 1” is the first of a work in progress series by Giuseppe Alletto including both collages and paintings showing portraits of elegant women in black and white standing out against an highly symbolical background: giant blue bacteria immersed in the dark as watched under the microscope. This series is an other step in the reflection of the artist about the theme of Violence or aggressiveness in contrast with Beauty and civilization. The artist seems fascinated by the peculiarity of bacterial behaviour consisting in a sort of “destroying for living” which can be considerated a powerful metaphor of an extreme but innocent violence.
The need of destruction characterizing is put in comparison whit the human will of destruction; a desire which seems unspekable and which is disguised by human beings under an appearance of refinement and gracefulness. "Bacterial Portrait 1"
