mural "hellebore pretty in pink" 2.3x2.9m
it was to be red
but a mural is more fun!
creating, doing
trying something new and bright,
complex and satisfying
During Covid lockdowns I had an idea to produce mural art for the main bathroom wall. The starting point was a photo taken on my Samsung phone of hellebore we have on the driveway garden.
Once in Photoshop, creating the desired effect was a fun process, with the installation method very much a consideration of the treatment I give these glorious pixels.
The very large file (created at full size 2.3x2.9m) was saved as a pdf.
The only reason I ventured into making a mural-sized artwork at this time was that I figured (fingers-crossed) that I/we do the whole thing at home - printing from Adobe with trim marks and page labels, to a standard A4 Epson home printer, on 80gsm (photocopier) paper no less (or more). Hand-trimming each page (190 or so of them for this mural) appealed to my love of precision and process, but it's a long one, needing lots of focal-length-adjustment breaks.
My wonderfully supportive fellow-artist husband (#mediummixer) then installed the work, page by page, row by row - teamwork makes the dreamwork! It was a joy to watch the mural come into its own, and it brings a lot of happiness.
