MASQUERADE. A Greek tragedy of all times. Women worldwide (and through the ages) are expected to conform to the reigning beauty ideal. By presuming a role and creating an appearance women commit censorship of self. By censoring their authentic personality, by means of fashion, drastic weight loss and plastic surgery, they hope to gain and maintain a position within the established order.
